Exporting your IBKR Activity Statement for Schedule FA

Interactive Brokers issues an Activity Statement as a CSV. Export the annual one for the calendar year you’re filing — it drops straight into an upload as-is.

Where to look

In IBKR Client Portal

  1. Open the Activity statement. In IBKR Client Portal, go to Performance & Reports → Statements, then click the Run arrow next to Activity.
  2. Set the period to Annually. Set Period → Annually and pick the calendar year you’re filing.
  3. Download the CSV. Set Format → CSV (not PDF or HTML) and click Download.
  4. Check the 5-year retention window. IBKR only keeps 5 previous years of statements — if you still hold a lot bought earlier than that, request that year’s statement from IBKR directly rather than estimating it.

Why it matters

CSV, not PDF or HTML

The Annual CSV is what carries the per-lot detail (dates, quantities, prices, dividends) our engine reads — a PDF or HTML export of the same period doesn’t. If you held a lot bought in an earlier year, export that year’s statement too, so its real purchase date and cost carry forward — see the guide’s note on one row per lot.
